All incoming ninth grade students continue the sequence of choral singing that began at South View and Valley View Middle Schools. At Edina High School, ninth grade students are members in one of two choir options, depending on voice type:
9th Grade Choir SSA:
Register for 9-12th Grade Choir MU4X02S1, MU4X02S2
PREREQUISITE: None
GRADE: 9
LENGTH: Full Year, S1 and S2
MEETS REQUIREMENT FOR: Fine Arts Elective
OUT OF CLASS WORK: Periodically
9th Grade Choir SSA (9) is a two-semester, non-auditioned choir for 9th graders (soprano I, soprano II, and alto - SSA) which offers students an opportunity to sing and perform at an introductory high school level. Rehearsal and performance of standard choral literature, as well as study of music theory, music history, and general music skills are given equal importance in the course. Repertoire for 9th Grade Choir ranges from traditional choral literature to contemporary pop arrangements. All members are required to perform in the Fall Concert, the Winter Concert and the Spring Sing Concert. Additional combined rehearsals may also be held outside the school day in preparation for each individual concert.

ehs 9th Grade choir "Good-to-know" facts:
The 9th Grade Choirs are offered in multiple sections at various times during the 7-period schedule.
Successful completion of a full-year's membership in EHS 9th Grade Choirs satisfies the EHS Fine Arts Elective requirement.
Students may take choir as one of six classes, plus an additional seventh class student prep period, or students can elect to take seven classes instead of a student prep by registering for seven courses in Infinite Campus. Click here to see 9th grade schedule examples.
Ninth grade students who have previously taken band or orchestra in eighth grade are encouraged to register for both choir and their band or orchestra class.
