Happenin’
Happenin’ is the annual spring choral-pop show featuring Varsity SSA, Varsity TTB, Bel Canto, and Cantemus.
On May 11, 1976 the Edina-West Varsity Choir put on the first Happenin’ concert, directed by Diana J. Leland. There were 54 singers in the choir for that performance.
Today, over 150 singers in these four choirs present choral arrangements of pop music, along with featured special acts, all accompanied by numerous instrumentalists, including a student back-up band.
Just as in Current Jam, traditions are an important part of Happenin’. Good Lovin’—the customary concert-closer—first finished the show in 1985.
