2024-2025 Cougar Chorus members
Cougar Chorus is a full-year choir, no audition required, for 10th-12th grade tenors and basses that seeks to develop good vocal techniques through rehearsal and performance experience. The study of music theory, music history, vocal technique, and sight-singing are also incorporated into rehearsals. Repertoire for Cougar Chorus ranges from traditional choral literature to contemporary pop arrangements. Attendance is required at the Fall Concert, the Winter Concert and the Happenin’ Concert in the spring. Additional combined rehearsals may also be held outside the school day in preparation for each individual concert.
About the name: Cougar Chorus–along with soprano-alto partner choir, Hornet Chorale–honors the nine-year co-existence (1972-1981) of Edina-East High School (“Hornets”) & Edina-West High School (“Cougars”). Both schools’ contributions still heavily influence our choirs to this day.

Please make note of the following required dates and times on your household calendar.

Friday, October 11: Combined rehearsal (7:30-8:25am)
Tuesday, October 15: Fall Concert (concert at 6:00pm; attendance at 5:30pm)
Friday, February 7: Combined rehearsal (7:30-8:25am)
Thursday, February 13: Winter Choral Concert (concert at 8:00pm; attendance at 7:30pm)
Monday, March 17 & Tuesday, March 18 (for those interested): Happenin’ special act auditions (time slots between 5:30-8:30pm)
Friday, May 2: Happenin’ combined rehearsal (7:30-8:25am)
Monday, May 5: Happenin’ combined rehearsal (3:20-4:45pm)
Tuesday, May 6: Happenin’ dress rehearsal (6:30-9:30pm)
Wednesday, May 7: Happenin’ final combined rehearsal (3:20-4:45pm)
Thursday, May 8: Happenin’ concert #1 (concert at 7:00pm; attendance at 6:30pm)
Friday, May 9: Happenin’ concert #2 (concert at 7:00pm; attendance at 6:30pm)

Step #5: Supply List
In addition to the supplied music and folder, the following materials are required for each choir:
Pencil (at all times during rehearsal)
Highlighter
School-approved electronic device (i.e. laptop, Chromebook) with working microphone and camera
Headphones/earbuds for electronic device
One box of tissues as a classroom donation (due September 13)
Formal concert attire (see slide 9 of the Choir Department Handbook below)
